M64 (NGC 4826) is located in the constellation of Coma Berenices (near Virgo) and has a diameter of roughly 85,000 light years. It has a band of dark matter which gives it it's name of the Black Eye Galaxy. Recent studies have shown that the outer ring is actually orbiting in the opposite direction to the inner core region, indicating that this is the result of 2 colliding galaxies.
